It takes so little to make me happy. Some concrete, some rust and lots of grit. Toss in some railroad tracks and I am in heaven.

Check out the bridge on the right edge of these pictures. Next post is from under there.

As always, please click on the pictures for larger views. It’s hard to get the full effect from the smaller shots.

Lots of lines and texture. The colors are so distinct. Is this the new camera?

    • My trusty 7D plus the 17-85mm lens. Sometimes I think I should divert my cash to purchasing a second camera body just so I can use a second lens sometimes. On this shoot, I switched to the ultra wide angle only to discover it was not appropriate for most of the material, then switched back. But I could have used it on a few shots.
      Long answer, short question.

  2. Something about railroad tracks and industrial buildings goes deep into my memory, like certain scents. Loved hanging around, walking along the tracks back then.

    • For me, I grew up in a tree-dense, one-story world, so I think I am still awestruck by over-sized and wow-some. (and hyphenated words, apparently…)
But railroad bridges? Those I did, with heart beating louder than the river below.

  3. Jane Lurie says:

And some leading lines in the railroad along with urban rust and industry. Good job!

Nice series of photos and we get to see what’s at the end of the line. 🙂

    Pipes are so very cool.

  6. Yes!–Either the geometry, the rust, the shadows or any combo thereof.
