If you’re from not-here, these colorful huts might well look like portable beach cabanas.

Not so! They’re ice shanties, just some of the many thousands of shanties that dot Wisconsin lakes every winter.

Found these this afternoon at a farm about a mile from Lake Winnebago in Fond du Lac county.

I’ve never actually seen so many together before, so I am assuming that either Mr. Farmer is doing a solid for his neighbors or maybe these are ice condos that he hauls onto the lake and then rents out for the winter.

Either way, love the string of bright colors.
