Appleton, about a month ago. Try clicking on the first picture for the full effect–a structure that large doesn’t thumbnail well.

As delighted as I was with how well my students liked The Canterbury Tales, today’s visit to 1346 Europe, Yersinia Pestis, black rats, bloated corpses being flung over the walls of Caffa and medieval remedies for the Plague was hands-down the best day of the year. We might as well all just go home now.

Nothing like a good plague (with visuals!) to bring down the house.

  1. Val Campbell says:

I ran a few trains across that bridge.

  2. Karen Taylor says:

Many, many, layers on this. Gorgeous.

  3. Jeanne Heuer says:

When you bring out the dead, they stand up and cheer!

  4. The details and rhythms, the rust, rails, wood and above all that compelling green stain (moss?) – all food for my inner-architect/adventurer. Beyond that, the whispering past beckons.
